HOLLY HERNANDEZ AND THE DEATH OF DISCO, by Richie Narvaez, won the Anthony Award for Best Juvenile/Young Adult book at the 2021 Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, which was virtual this year.

“I am thrilled and frankly flabbergasted,” says Narvaez. “Big thanks to the Bouchercon team  and to Hank Ryan for a great show! It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to do this in person, but it’s clear now more than ever that it was the right thing to cancel. We’ll party together next year!”

Other awardees included S.A. Cosby, David Heska Wanbli Weiden, and Jess Lourey. Established in 1986, the prestigious Anthony Awards are named for Anthony Boucher, one of the founders of the Mystery Writers of America.

Narvaez’s other 2020 book, Noiryorican, was nominated for an Anthony for Best Anthology/Collection but did not win.
